Meet the Doctors
Dr. Ira Mendelsohn
Ira Mendelsohn, DDS graduated from Penn State, then graduated early with honors from Temple University School of Dentistry.
Dr. Mendelsohn is a perfectionist and his patients’ beautiful smiles reflect this. His pursuit of perfection has driven him to continue to take countless hours of continuing education in cosmetic dentistry, occlusion and implantology. Dr. Mendelsohn first began studying implantology thirty years ago under the tutelage of the original founders in the field. He has thirty-five years of priceless hands-on experience in all phases of dentistry; during his career he has enjoyed mentoring several of the young dentists in the area. Dr. Mendelsohn’s patients include physicians, sports figures, celebrities, entertainers, models and patients from all walks of life- anyone who wants to improve their dental health. Some of his patients travel great distances to see Dr. Mendelsohn because they know they can trust him to take the very best care of their mouth. They appreciate that he listens to what they want – to their expectations of how their smile should look. Dr. Mendelsohn helps them to understand what can and cannot be done to accomplish their cosmetic goals while maintaining the function and health of their dentition.
His lifelong commitment to remaining a leader in his field has led him to become a Fellow of the international Congress of Oral Implantology, as well as a member of the International College of Dental Implantology.
Mainland Dental employs the latest high-tech tools, including a CAT scan which allows proper precise placement of implants. The new Trios 3 Shape Scanner is a 3D printer that scans the mouth so impressions are no longer necessary. Our patients love that.
Dr. Mendelsohn’s objective has never changed in thirty-five years: to deliver the best dental work to his patients at a price they can afford. Dr. Mendelsohn is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry of New Jersey, as well as the Atlantic/Cape May Dental Association. He is on the board of the Atlantic Dental Foundation. (Benecare)
Dr. Mendelsohn is very proud that Mainland Dental has been voted Best of the Press in Dentistry for the last four years in a row!
During his free time, Dr. Mendelsohn is an avid tennis player. He bleeds green and goes to every Eagles game that he can. He is married with two grown daughters; he lives with his wife and a menagerie of animals including dogs, cats and a parrot. He and his family are staunch supporters of local and international wildlife and pet rescues.
Dr. Ethan Zhang
Ethan C. Zhang, D.M.D. graduated with a degree in Biochemistry, then graduated Cum Laude from Temple University School of Dentistry in 2010.
He is a consummate student who has committed himself to a lifetime of continuing education. Dr. Zhang followed his passion and pursued his studies further in advanced cosmetic dentistry and comprehensive implantology at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. He is a Master Implantologist of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and a Fellow of the International College of Dental Implantology.
In 2016, Dr. Zhang was welcomed into the partnership by Dr. Ira Mendelsohn at Mainland Dental Associates.
Dr. Zhang’s cosmetic dentistry creates beautiful smiles while maintaining the integrity of the dentition. He has, quite simply, become the ‘go-to’ dentist for customized porcelain veneers. Veneers designed by Dr. Zhang combine the best of art and science. His veneers function, last and create the beautiful, age defying smile you dream of. The doctor says his most rewarding feeling is seeing the confidence his
patients gain from their beautiful new smiles, whether they be implants, crowns or veneers.
Dr. Zhang is also an expert in enhancing your cosmetic dentistry with Botox injections. Once you have your beautiful new smile, talk to Dr. Zhang about creating the perfect frame for that smile. Your lips
frame your smile; Botox and dermal fillers could be the perfect addition to complete the new you!
Dr. Zhang lives with his wife and their dog; they are both avid fishermen. He also loves to play basketball, although he admits he is honestly not that good.

Dr. Cathy is a member of the New Jersey Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, and American Dental Association.
Dr. Cathy lives with her fiance and their cat, Lucy. Outside of the dental office, Dr. Cathy loves to cook elaborate recipes, relax with friends and family, spend time in nature and sew her own clothing. Her guilty pleasure is watching TLC shows.
